Oaks of Righteousness

The leadership of ROC is excited to announce that our men’s ministry, after a bit of a hiatus, is back! We have re-tooled it to bring a sharper focus on cultivating leaders, growing in knowledge, and making a generational impact in our church.

It officially kicks off on February 29 with a cookout and fellowship event at the church (4:00-7:00pm). Read on to find out what it’s about—and why.

The Name

With a new focus comes a new name that not only is more interesting than “men’s ministry,” but captures what it’s about about. The CORe: Creating Oaks of Righteousness.

Find out more about the name

This is not only (roughly) ROC spelled backwards, but it also encapsulates two significant passages of Scripture:

…That they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.

Psalm 1:1-3

The focus of this ministry reboot is to help cultivate godliness, strength, and wisdom among the men of our church, that we might together mature more and more as strong oaks of God across all areas of life.

Three Pillars

CORe will consist primarily of three regular activities. Our goal is not to compel every man of the church to fill up his calendar with “stuff” to do. Rather, we want you to find something that will work for your life stage and address an area where you want to grow.
