Kicking off the New Year
We are so thankful for our Children’s Ministry team that has made everything possible since relaunching, including stepping up during the busyness of the holidays to make our Advent series possible.
We recently had a team meeting to reconnect and recharge as we move into the new year. We made a recording of the meeting for those who were unable to join us so we can all be on the same page, check it out here.
Relaunching ROCK Books & Blocks
As we relaunched our ministry, the main focus was just on getting things back up and adjusting to the new COVID protocols. Now as we come into 2021 we will be resuming the ROCK blocks program to give the kids the chance to finish what they started last year and have the ice cream & water party later this spring.
Parents, if you need a replacement ROCK book (or you are new to River Oaks and don’t know what ROCK books are), just contact Joel or Jenn, and we will get you a new one.
Seeds Family Worship Initiative
In order to further equip families for worship and connect our learning on Sunday with family life throughout the week, we would like to share a new resource to walk through together as a church family this year: Seeds Family Worship!
Seeds is an organization that seeks to plant God’s word in as many hearts and homes as possible by setting Scripture to music. Memorizing scripture can seem like a challenge, but learning a new song is easy! This past year Seeds did a campaign to provide free family devotional resources to help families memorize 20 verses.
We will be integrating this program into our times together on Sunday starting January 24th, we’ll spend two weeks on each verse song and encourage families to practice during the week and use the devotional reading Seeds provides to reflect on the verse together during the week. We are very excited about this new journey together and what it will mean to our kids to have all of these verses internalized at the end of this process!
You can find all of the songs, music videos including hand motions, and family devotionals at this website:
