Hands and Feet
The Mercy Team exists to equip, encourage and inspire the congregation of River Oaks Church to extend the Kingdom of God by demonstrating the love of Christ. We do this through acts of service to those in our community, both in partnership with our deacons and with reputable ministries in the area. Ministry Opportunities
Throughout the year we engage in or support the following ministry initiatives:
- Swap Shop: providing free goods (donated by our congregation) to those with need in the Sanford/Lake Mary area. Usually held in June/July.
- Sanford and Winter Springs Pregnancy Center: conducting a “Baby Bottle Campaign” each year to support the cause of life through this vital local ministry.
- Good News Jail & Prison Ministries: ministering to the men and women who are incarcerated in the Seminole County jail through regular Bible study outreaches and annual Christmas care packages
- Angels of Mercy: providing shelter, food, and mental health counseling, and employment training for women who are reentering society after prison
- Christian HELP: collecting Christmas gifts for local children in need as part of their Dove Tree program
- Redeeming Life Outreach Ministry: supporting this local home for women in situations of crisis pregnancies
- Sharing Center: working to prevent hunger and homelessness in Seminole County
The Mercy Team also works alongside the deacons to engage with those from outside the congregation who come to us seeking financial aid or otherwise. We do so in a caring and holistic way, always encouraging them to become a part of our church family. We believe that healing comes and lives are transformed through relationship, first with Christ and secondly with others.
