Happy March!

As the official beginning of spring nears and we see plants bursting back into life, it feels like we are starting to come out of a long winter ourselves. It has been wonderful to see everyone making their way back to church and meeting some new friends recently as well, it really feels like things are coming back to life.

We’ve also been excited to find a way for more of our friends to join us in the ROCK each week via Zoom as we continue walking through the life of Jesus in the Gospel Project. If you have kids that would like to join us virtually on Sundays feel free to contact Joel for the info.

Communicants Class

We are very excited about the large group of kids we have in our Communicants Class happening this month! As Presbyterians we baptize our children as a sign of the covenant believing that they were sovereignly placed in a believing family to be raised in the knowledge of God. However, in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper there is an additional need to be able to “examine oneself” and “discern the body” in order to participate in a worthy manner as the apostle Paul talks about in 1 Corinthians 11.

Communicants Class is how we help to make sure our covenant children fully understand the gospel and the significance of the Lord’s Supper in particular. It’s like a new members class for those raised in the church!

VBS Plans in the Works

We so missed our yearly tradition of VBS in 2020. We were proud of everyone who gave the online VBS program the old college try but it’s just not the same as being together in person! We’ve started working on plans to make VBS 2021 a reality, but there are some logistical challenges to figure out as we are likely going to be in the process of construction on our building extension over the summer.

We are looking at June 7- 11 for the dates and would love to start building our team now as we prepare! We also appreciate your prayers for wisdom and creativity as we look for an alternate location we can partner with.

Next Team Training

We’re so proud of our kids, parents, and teachers for how everyone has soldiered on over the past year. I don’t know about all of you, but it has been easy for me to get into survival mode and lose touch with the heart of why I’m doing what I’m doing day to day in the focus on just keeping the trains running. We don’t want to let that happen with children’s ministry!

So mark your calendars for a children’s team lunch and training after church on April 11th from 12:00 – 1:30. We want to celebrate God’s faithfulness in bringing us through the past year and re-center on our vision behind the ministry. This would be a great meeting to attend if you are newly looking to get involved in children’s ministry and want to catch the vision of what we’re about!

Our last meeting was a great encouragement!
