Our COVID Path Forward
On August 9th, pastors Camera and Lanier hosted a presentation and Q&A detailing our leadership team’s current understanding of the coronavirus data, which is a key input to our ministry plans for the upcoming months.
Our goal is to continue exercising precautions to “keep the trains running” for our two Sunday worship services, while gradually reintroducing other ministries over time. Please watch the video (or view the presentation) below, and then check out the plans for ministries this Fall.

Fall 2020 Ministry Plans
These plans are, of course, subject to change based on further developments in the pandemic.
- Sunday Worship
We will continue with our 9am and 11am services in Stage 2 for the foreseeable. The 11am service will continue to be livestreamed.
- Adult Education
Pastor Lanier hopes to restart adult Sunday school within a few weeks. We will be studying the use of the OT in the NT.
- Children and Youth Ministries
After Labor Day, we will assess how to begin reopening children’s and youth ministries. The tentative plan for gradually reintroducing our activities is as follows (specific details are still being formulated):- Reopen nursery (with attendance cap, RSVPs)
- Outdoor ROCK (on the playground)
- Outdoor midweek youth activities
- Children’s Sunday school (eventually)
- “Sunday Night Socials”
Outdoor gatherings of adults and children on the church lawn (and playground), for four Sunday evenings (5:00-7:00pm). Bring your lawn chair or a blanket (for social distancing). Dinner will be provided by the church.- 8/23 – Vision presentation
- 9/13 – Singing and music
- 10/4 – “Top 10 YouTube Videos”
- 10/25 – Yard games
- Community Groups
Some CGs will reconvene after Labor Day, either via Zoom or in-person. Details forthcoming.
- New Members Class
We will be offering a four-week New Members Class in late August and September, both in-person (in the community center) and via Zoom. This will be a “catch-up” for Spring new members who got interrupted by the COVID shutdown as well as an opportunity for recent visitors to learn more about membership at ROC.
- Women’s and Men’s Bible Studies
The Fall Bible studies will begin via Zoom. Each group will determine if and when it would be possible to meet in person at some point later in the year.
