“To give his life as a ransom for many”
The four Gospels in the New Testament each present a complementary portrait of the person and work of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Although the Gospel of Mark is the shortest portrait, it is no less profound or compelling. Mark presents Jesus as the divine Son of God who is also the promised Servant come to save his people by offering himself as ransom on the cross of Calvary.
Both believers and skeptics need to be reminded of who Jesus actually is, what he actually said, and the incredible things he actually did to be challenged afresh with his “Gospel”: his good news of salvation for all peoples.
Come and join us on Sundays in September, October, and November as we encounter Jesus Christ afresh in the Gospel according to Mark.
On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you will be a servant to all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Mark 10:44-45
