River Oaks Artists Guild
The Greenhouse is a ROC ministry for building community with other Christian artists. It is designed to provide freedom and courage to explore all areas where our faith and varied art forms intersect. Oftentimes we are isolated in our studios, at our computer screens, or even among peers with different convictions. We have found that being a part of a like-minded group of creative Believers provides motivation, inspires imagination, and develops Art and Faith vocabulary to tell the story of the Gospel through our unique type of expression.
Think of it as a form of “greenhouse” to grow in creativity, fellowship, and closeness to each other and the Great Creator.
Who is included?
Any kind of Christian creative is welcome to join the Greenhouse, wherever you are in your journey (fine artists, photographers, videographers, musicians, bakers/cooks, crocheters, seamstresses, writers, gardeners, and more). You do not have to be a traditional 2D artist to benefit! Whether you are a new artist learning your artform, pursuing a craft as a hobby, or a professional of many years, you are invited into this creative community. (This includes anyone who is high school aged and above.)
What do we do?
The Greenhouse will meet throughout the year to share current projects, discuss Art & Faith topics, and hear about each other’s creative journey. We will also be hosting seasonal master classes and other fun group activities.
Our monthly meetings often begin with an open time to share Works in Progress. This could be a project that has just started and you need direction or encouragement, or a more finished project that you would like to share with the group. We then move into a time of “digging deeper,” where we discuss prompts like, “what is good ‘Christian’ art?” and, “how does community affect creativity?” Finally, we may end with a creative prompt to use for motivation & inspiration at home. This may be related to the sermon series or seasonal theme.

The Facebook group is also a great way to share more ideas, see others’ Works In Progress, and find other creative events in the Central Florida area.
