Young Life Capernaum
Rachel Halley serves with Young Life in a special ministry called Capernaum. This unique ministry reaches students with various kinds of disabilities with the love of Jesus Christ. Rachel helps lead monthly gatherings of these youth (often with their parents) with a team of local student leaders. They teach them the Bible and use songs, games, mealtimes, and group activities to help them make friends and develop an understanding of how they are image-bearers of God and loved by Jesus.
Rachel has been a member of River Oaks for several years and is a recent graduate of University of Central Florida, where she earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling and a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
The opportunity to work full-time with Young Life Capernaum is a wonderful blend of her professional training and desire to serve in Christian ministry. ROC is excited to partner with her!
About YL Capernaum
Young Life is an international ministry dedicated to introducing adolescents (typically middle and high school youth) to Jesus Christ. YL typically starts clubs at local schools where the gospel is shared with students in a contextually-sensitive way and with a heart for getting young people excited about the kingdom of God.
YL Capernaum is a ministry of YL that specifically focuses on students with a variety of physical or mental/emotional disabilities, providing a context where they can cultivate a relationship with Christ in a way that fits with their unique gifts, needs, and challenges.

Volunteer at a Monthly Meeting
- Rachel is excited to invite ROC community groups to participate in Capernaum meetings. It is an excellent opportunity to make a meal and spend the evening as a group getting to know the leaders, youth, and parents. It’s a great way to get children involved in serving, too!
