Serving our local community
Our Mercy team coordinates numerous events throughout the year where we serve as the hands and feet of Jesus in blessing our local community. Check out the details below for upcoming ways you can serve.
August 9 – Joyful Treasures (a.k.a. Swap Shop)
Thank you for joining us in serving the community in our Joyful Treasures (new branding from Swap Shop) event at the church on Saturday, August 9 (9-noon). This was a free shopping event for the church and our community. We appreciate all your donated items including: clothing, toys, books, household items, sports equipment, and most items in your home. Our volunteers were abundant all week and on the actual event day.
September 27 – Serve Saturday
Join us in the Sharing Center Serve Saturday Distribution Center in Longwood for the the upcoming event on Saturday, September 27 (9am-noon). The Sharing Center is working to prevent hunger and homelessness in Seminole County.
October 18 – Walk for Life
Join us in the Pregnancy Center’s Walk for Life in Casselberry for the upcoming event on Saturday, 10/18 (8am).
November 21 – Thanksgiving Food Drive
Join us in serving the Sharing Center Thanksgiving Food Drive to provide meals for 350-400 families. On Friday, 11/21 (9am-3pm) we will be assisting with the actual food drive.
December 2025 – Christian Help Dove Tree
We will have the The Christian Help Dove Trees displayed in the Westminster Hall with gift tags for donations of gifts for families in need. Volunteer your gifts to River Oaks church and/or your time to assist in distributing these gifts with the Christian Help event.
Pregnancy Center BBC, May 11-June 15
One of our favorite annual community support initiatives is joining several other churches in Seminole County to support the Pregnancy Centers in their Baby Bottle Campaign. How you can help.
April 11, Sharing Center Easter Food Drive
We distributed 300 boxes of Easter meals and children’s Easter toys, to those in need, partnering with the Sharing Center of Longwood.
March 29, RLOM home cleanup
SIGN UP to join the Mercy team to clean the homes and yards at Redeeming Life Outreach Ministry in Sanford. We will be working from 9:00am to noon. We will be serving the Maternity Home and the Transitional Home.
