Register Now for Vacation Bible School!
Hear ye, hear ye! River Oaks Church is excited to host a medieval-themed Vacation Bible School from July 17-21, 2023. VBS will run daily from 9:00am-12:00pm.
Children from pre-k to rising 5th graders are encouraged to participate as campers. Rising 6th to 12th graders are encouraged to register as volunteers. (School volunteer hours are available for high schoolers!) Also, we need many adult volunteers to make sure that everything runs smoothly! The nursery will be available for infants and toddlers of adult helpers.
We are asking for a $10 donation per camper ($25 maximum per family) to help offset the cost of the t-shirts, snacks and crafts if you are able!
What is Keepers of the Kingdom about?
Here is an overview of this year’s theme, Keepers of the Kingdom, according to the Answers In Genesis website:
Hear ye, hear ye! Welcome, Keepers of the Kingdom – We are engaged in an epic battle between two spiritual kingdoms for the hearts and minds of our youth. Every day, our kids are bombarded with lies about who they are and where their salvation comes from.
But we are not meant to fight this battle alone! God, the ruler of the good kingdom, has given his kingdom keepers spiritual armor to wear. With this VBS, your kids will learn how they can be part of God’s kingdom through salvation in his Son. And they will be equipped with the armor of God as they train to become Keepers of the Kingdom who stand strong in the battle for truth! Huzzah!
VBS Team Training and Prep
Volunteers will be expected to attend a Volunteer Training Meeting where will spend time going over the vision for the week, logistics, safety, etc. We will make a recording for those who can’t make it but please make it a priority to attend in person if at all possible in order to build team unity and get any questions you may have answered. The date of the meeting will be announced closer to VBS.
VBS Prep Week
The week before VBS there will be lots of final prep work to do in order to help everything run smoothly during the program: preparing craft materials, decoration elements, etc.
Monday, July 10- Friday, July 14 from 9am-3pm each day, the leadership team will be at River Oaks ready to equip anyone who wants to come help with jobs to do. Youth helpers, this week is an awesome opportunity for service hours!
Decoration Sunday
On July 16th, immediately following the 2nd service (about 12:30 for those of you who aren’t regular attenders of ROC), we will transform River Oaks into a royal kingdom! This is always a major undertaking so we’d love to have everyone helping out! Pizza lunch will be provided for helpers.
Please contact Jane@riveroakschurch.com if you have any questions!
