At-Home VBS
From the time we first announced this year’s VBS, we have been holding our plans with an open hand, recognizing the ever-changing situation with the COVID-19 pandemic could change things. In light of the recent surge in cases, our VBS leadership team, in consultation with River Oaks’ reopening task force, has made the difficult decision to cancel our in-person VBS for 2020.
However, because we still want the gospel to be proclaimed to our kids and our communities this summer, we want to equip you with resources to do VBS at home as a family! Answers VBS, the makers of the curriculum we use each year, is providing a special kit of online resources for an online/at home VBS this year completely for free, including videos of the daily drama (a highlight for the kids each year), teaching, creature features, science experiments, puppets, and songs! In addition to connecting you with these online resources, our team would love to help equip you by providing some of the materials you’ll need (craft supplies, etc) in pre-prepped ROC VBS bags. We will have a time on Friday, July 17th from 4-5 PM when you can come to River Oaks and drive through the parking lot for contactless pickup of your VBS supplies. We are sad to not be together in person this year, but believe this is the right decision and trust that God will still be glorified this summer.
