Two New Classes
Having just finished a long series on Hebrews as well as a “marriage boot camp” in the prior months, we shift our attention in October and November to 2 different topics: one that deals with contemporary theological issues, and one that is focused in helping you read the Bible with greater confidence. Find out more below!
Denominational Alphabet Soup
River Oaks Church is part of the PCA. But have you ever wondered what all the other three-letter acronyms for churches mean? What is UMC? SBC? EPC ARP OPC CREC … and so on! When your friend says, “We go to an ACNA church,” are you afraid to ask what that means? Why do we have so many denominations to begin with? In this 8-week series (taught by Greg Lanier), we will survey some of the major denominations to understand what makes them similar and distinct.
This class will meet in the worship center from 10:15-10:45am.
How to Read the Bible
The Christian life is centered around the word of God revealed in the Old and New Testaments. But the OT is 929 chapters, and the NT is 260 chapters! That’s a lot of reading…and every student of the Bible should want to read the Bible accurately and faithfully. In this 8-week series (taught by Levi Berntson, Cody Brobst, Ben Shaw, Cade Horton, and Steven Seal), we will explore the basic tools for studying all the different parts of the Bible. This class will be great for those who are new to the Christian faith or who want a tune-up on how to read the Bible.
This class will meet in Knox/Calvin from 10:15-10:45am.
