Reformed Theology Bootcamp
The third River Oaks Church “Spiritual Formation Weekend” is coming soon! These events are wonderful times to gather as a church family and go deeper on various topics related to theology and the Christian life.
This installment will be held April 24-26, 2026, and will focus on core teachings of Reformed theology, such as Christ, covenants, confessions, Calvinism, church, and more! The cost per attendee is $5 to help cover food and printing.
The basic schedule will be as follows:
- Friday (4/24): 5:30pm dinner | 6:30 plenary session with Q&A (speaker: Levi Berntson, “The Church That Forgot It’s Message–Why the Reformation Matters”)
- Saturday (4/25): 8:30am refreshments | 9:00 seminars, round 1 | 10:30 seminars, round 2
- Sunday (4/26): 9:00am and 11:00 worship services | 10:15 Sunday school
Saturday Seminars
When you register, you will be able to pick two seminars to attend. (But all will be recorded, so you can still listen to the ones you miss). Here’s the slate of options:
- A Reformed View of Spiritual Warfare & The End Times (David & Maggie Oh)
- God’s Word: One Continuous Story, Sustained by Covenants (Ben Shaw)
- Sanctification in the Reformed Tradition (Gretel Tabares & Susanna McConnell)
- The Doctrine of Scripture: The Bible’s Autobiography (Greg Lanier)
- The Reformation & the Arts (Sam & Lauren Theriault)
- Glorious Ruins: Humanity’s Paradox & the Doctrines of Grace (Cody Brobst)
- The Marks of the True Church: An Intro to Reformed Ecclesiology (Daniel Turner)
- Why Pelagius is a Heretic & Arminius is Not (David Camera)
It’s our prayer that our third in-house weekend of intensives will help us grow in church-wide cohesion, appreciation for our shared heritage and a commitment to curiosity on matters beyond just “TULIP.” As we journey through a sermon series on Ephesians, we’ll aim to tackle topics we don’t normally have time to cover.
