God is Sovereign!
In the month of April, we will finish the latter part of Genesis by studying the end of Jacob’s life and the story of Joseph, whom God protected during his time in Egypt.
We will be focusing on how God is sovereign over all of history and directs it towards the good of his people.
We will also be hosting our quarterly teacher’s meeting on Saturday, April 27. Stay tuned for details!
For Teachers
Your investment in the lives of our young people is extremely valuable to the kingdom of God. Thank you for all you do!
Teaching tip for April: If you are reading the story to younger kids, try using hand puppets or stuffed animals as characters. It really helps to keep their attention!
Training videos: Check out this Gospel Project video for the first lesson of April (unit 3, session 3). Links to the rest are included below.
- Unit 4, Session 1: Joseph is Sent to Egypt
- Unit 4, Session 2: Joseph Explains his Dreams
- Unit 4, Session 3: Joseph Saves his Family
Encouragement for the month: We will have up to five children “graduating” from communicants’ class. This is a significant milestone in the lives of these children and their families as they become fully participating members of the church. It also represents a huge success for the children’s ministry that these children have come to fully understand and embrace the gospel! This is exactly what we hope to see happening: God maturing the children in our midst so that they publicly proclaim their faith!
For Parents
Thank you for your investment in raising up the next generation of followers of Christ. It is a blessing to be part of a church body that takes seriously the calling to raise up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Reminders:
- VBS registration is open for The Incredible Race (June 3-7)
- “Family Sunday” will take place on April 7, meaning ROCK will only be available for pre-K. This will also be a special service focusing on the meaning of baptism and communion as the graduates of the communicants class take their membership vows and first communion, and several of them will be baptized. We encourage you to use this as a springboard for conversation with your children at home about these beautiful pictures of the gospel.
Family worship tip for April: Learning how to pray begins when you are young. Try inviting even the youngest of your children to speak to God with you. Even if it is something simple like, “Thank you God for my bike,” it’s teaching them that God delights when we talk to him from our heart. We don’t have to use fancy words.
