Continuing our Partnership with Isaiah 61

The Session and Missions Committee of River Oaks is excited to announce that we’ll be sending another short-term mission team to Acaba Mundo (in Belo Horizonte, Brazil), June 4-14, 2026.

This will be our third trip to support Isaiah 61 ministries in the favela in southeastern Brazil. (Find our more about prior trips here.)

Team & goals

The team consists of the following: Ben Gallant (co-leader, ROC elder), Greg Lanier (co-leader, ROC pastor), Katelynn & Owen Camera, Dewey Dixon, Jonathan Gallant, Joaquin Gonzalez, James Junod, Caroline Lanier, Ryan Lennox, Becky and Eliza Liljeros, Jacobee Ortega, Heather and Charis Osmolski, John Micheal Osmolski, and Sarah Wozniak.

The team will be focusing on three main types of activities while in Belo:

  • Ministering to children and their families in the favela, through a “mini-VBS”
  • Continuing construction on the Isaiah 61 community center
  • Partnering with two local churches (Com Vida and Comunidade Horizonte) for different types of teaching, outreach activities, and worship

You can follow along with our team at our dedicated Substack page, where we will post regular updates leading up to and during the trip.
