Moving Up and Growing in Faith!

As the summer winds down, it’s time to move on up! Starting Aug. 1, children are invited to promote to the next grade level during Sunday school and ROCK. Grade level divisions are:

  • Sunday School—Pre-K, potty-trained 3-5 year olds (small Sunday school room)
  • Sunday School—Kindergarten to Second Grade (large Sunday school room)
  • Sunday School—Third to Fifth Grade (large classroom in office building)
  • ROCK—Pre-K, potty-trained 3-5 year olds (small Sunday school room)
  • ROCK—Kindergarten to Third Grade (large Sunday school room)

The new Children’s ministry team—Jane O’Dowd and Amanda Knowles—will be in the hallway between both services on Sunday to make sure all kids get into the correct classroom.

Calling all Teachers!

Mark your calendar! Right after the second service on August 22nd, from 12:00 – 1:30 pm we will have our next Children’s Ministry Team Training and Team Building event. We will review current protocols as well as announce a few EXCITING changes to the Children’s program. We’ll be providing lunch & childcare, RSVP so we can have a good headcount for both. This is a great chance to hear the heart behind our ministry and welcome Jane O’Dowd (the new Director of Children’s Ministry), and Amanda Knowles (the new Children’s Ministry Associate)! Please join us!

ROCK Blocks are Back!

The Children’s Ministry teachers are relaunching the ROCK blocks for fall 2021. Starting this Sunday, children will receive ROCK blocks for memorizing Bible verses, participating in Sunday School/ROCK, treating other’s the way Jesus calls us to and completing sermon note sheets. Children can add their blocks to build a fall structure and earn the next ROCK Blocks party….A FALL FESTIVAL!

The Early Church

As all our ROC kids go back to school, we are going back in time to The Early Church for the next 4-week unit of the Gospel Project. Your child will learn about how, “The church is God’s plan to bring praise and glory to Jesus. Through the church, the gospel goes beyond Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria to the end of the earth.”

Gospel Project @ Home weekly units include:

  • August 1: Ananias and Sapphira: (Acts 4-5) Ananias and Sapphira lied about their gift to the church. (Click here for Lesson 29.1)
  • August 8: Stephen’s Sermon: (Acts 6–7) Stephen preached about Jesus no matter what. (ALSO, FAMILY SUNDAY!) (Click here for Lesson 29.2
  • August 15: The Good News: (Romans 5–6) God sent Jesus into the world to rescue sinners. (Click here for Lesson 29.3
  • August 22: Doers of the Word: (James 1–2) James said that faith without works is useless. (Click here for Lesson 29.4

Memory verse for Unit 29: This unit’s verse is Romans 12:5: “We, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”

By the end of August, your children should be able to answer the question, “What is the church?” (Hint: It’s NOT just a building in Lake Mary, Florida!) Finally, we are praying over all our families for a happy and healthy start to the new school year.
