Welcome to Summer!

Congratulations on making it through this past school year, I (Joel) think it’s safe to say that was quite a feat for all of us. We’re hopeful about the coming year as things seem to be getting back to normal and we look forward to reconnecting as a community in several ways such as…

Vacation Bible School

VBS is always a highlight of the year, which is why we were so sad to miss in 2020 due to COVID! There are many precious kids we’ve built relationships with through this time together each year so we are so glad that we’ll be seeing them in less than a week. I am very thankful for the great response we’ve had from families and volunteers to help it all come together. And you still have time to help out!

June 1-4th is VBS prep week, we will be at the church from 9-12 and 1-4 each day preparing decorations and crafts and will have plenty of jobs for whoever shows up. Also, June 6th is decoration Sunday, where we’ll transform River Oaks as soon as church is done into an island getaway. We can use lots of help with this one and will provide pizza lunch for any helpers, sign up here:

Family Sunday School

Another way we are excited to be rebuilding community is with our special ‘Family Reunion’ all-ages Sunday school we’re doing in June. Everyone should check out the full announcement here and get excited about what’s in store. There’s too much to rewrite it here, but know there won’t be regular children’s Sunday school in the month of June because we have something instead which you will NOT want to miss. (We will still be offering nursery and a Sunday school for younger Pre-K children).

Searching for New Children’s Director

As we wish our beloved Canadys farewell to Texas, we are looking to hire a new Children’s Ministry Director and also expanding the role to full-time as we look toward the future of expanding ministry after the building expansion is completed. If you or someone you know is interested to learn more, check out the full job description and instructions to apply here.

Summer Calendar

One of the things Jenn was so wonderful at was gently and lovingly nudging us all to remember to sign up for the open spots on the children’s ministry schedule. While we’re in the process of hiring a new Children’s Director we’ll need everyone on the team to step up and take the initiative to serve when and where they can. Summer always presents challenges with scheduling, with people often traveling for vacation. Teachers can sign up on the calendar at the link sent out weekly (email Joel if you don’t have the link). If you are interested in joining the team contact Joel for more info on how to get involved.
