Summer Kick-Off Party on May 15th!
To celebrate the end of ROC On Wednesdays and the completion of our Rock Block Barn, the River Oaks Children’s Ministry is celebrating with a pizza and petting zoo party! The event will be held directly following the second service of church on May 15, 2022. Food will be served at the playground and the petting zoo will be set up on the back lawn behind the office building.
The petting zoo will be open from 12:30 – 2:00 pm and will feature little lambs, little goats, a little pot-bellied pig, fancy chickens, bunnies, and one surprise animal! Parents are asked to attend and supervise their children during this event!
The Gospel Project: In The Beginning
The Children’s Ministry will re-start the three year complete bible curriculum called The Gospel Project with Unit 1 called In The Beginning. According to the unit overview, this unit explores how, “The story begins with God creating everything rom nothing. Of all of God’s perfect creation, people were most special, alone being made in God’s image. All that God created was created to reveal God’s glory-how amazing He is.” This month, we’ll answer the question: Why did God create everything? God created everything for His glory and our good.
Lessons this month include:
- May 1, 2022: Jesus Will Return (Revelation 19-21) FAMILY SUNDAY!
- May 8, 2022: God Created The World. (Genesis 1)
- May 15, 2022: God Created People (Genesis 1-2)
- May 22, 2022: Creation Glorifies God. (Psalm 19)
Memory verse: This unit’s verse is Psalm 19:1, “The Heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.”
Did you know? The Children’s Ministry has printed copies of the monthly overview available on the ROCK Blocks table to take home. This resource can be hung on the fridge or placed in a family bible to be used throughout the week to reinforce the Bible message learned at church!

We’re going down under for an Australian-themed Vacation Bible School this summer from June 20 – 24! Registration is almost at full capacity! Please email Jane@riveroakschurch.com to find out if there is any availability in your child’s age group or to be added to the waiting list.
