Are you ready to ROC ON Wednesdays?
The children’s ministry is excited to announce another opportunity for fellowship and biblical exploration for children in kindergarten through fifth grade! Starting September 15, we are launching River Oaks Church on Wednesdays (ROC ON). ROC ON evenings will kick-off with a family dinner served from 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. followed by the drop-off program from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
The ROC ON program will be a continuation of The Gospel Project lesson taught during the previous Sunday School and ROCK during church. We will continue to explore the bible story of the week through worship, crafts, games and bible memorization. If your child wants to participate,The ROC ON Kids program will be held in the large room in the church office building. (The room where the current grade 3-5 Sunday School meets.) If your child wants to participate, please sign up here!
To find out what other programs are available for all members of your family, check out the complete ROC ON post.
And The Church Grew…
Last week, we began a new 4-week unit of the Gospel Project to learn about how the early church grew. As your children began to learn, the quick growth of the early church led to some problems. To solve these problems, the leaders of the church wrote letters to remind people that Jesus is the head of the church. The big picture question in this unit will help children understand, “Why does the church exist?” Children will learn that the church exists to glorify God by worshiping Him, showing His love, and telling others about Jesus.
Gospel Project @ Home weekly units include:
- September 5, 2021: Paul Met Jesus: (Acts 8-9) Jesus saved Paul and chose him to spread the gospel. (Click here for Lesson 30.2) (FAMILY SUNDAY!)
- September 12, 2021: New Life In Jesus (Colossians 2–3) Jesus gives new life to people who trust in Him. (Click here for Lesson 30.3 )
- September 19, 2021: Guarding the Truth: (2 Corinthians 11) God gives us power to stand up for the gospel. (Click here for Lesson 30.4)
- September 26, 2021: Peter and Cornelius: (Acts 10) The good news about Jesus is for everyone. (Click here for Lesson 31.1)
Memory verse for Unit 30: This unit’s verse is Colossians 1:18: “And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”
Help Us Prep!
To prepare for the exciting expansion of the children’s program, we are hosting our first Gospel Project Prep Party for all teachers and volunteers on Sept. 19 directly following church. We will provide snacks, but feel free to bring a bag lunch. During this time we will prepare crafts and activities for Unit 31 of the The Gospel Project that will serve the students during Sunday School, ROCK and ROC ON. We will have everything organized and ready to prep with the intention of having everything done within an hour. This will be a great time for teacher’s to prepare their hearts and minds (and classrooms!) for the upcoming unit and enjoy fellowship with the children’s ministry team.
