Growing as Leaders
Our goal for the River Oaks Men’s Ministry is to provide opportunities for men to grow as leaders in their homes and in the church. We also hope we can help foster relationships between the men of ROC to encourage one another as we all seek to live for God’s Glory. To that end, we will be kicking off our Fall men’s Bible study, where we will be developing skills needed to study, apply, and even teach God’s word.
The study will be led by our own Rev. Dr. Ben Shaw and co-facilitated with elder Paul Fulbright.
Details & Schedule
The study meets every Wednesday night as part of ROC On Wednesday. Food is available from 5:00-6:00pm, and the study will run from 6:00pm to roughly 7:30pm. The schedule is as follows:
- 8/17 – Basic Principles (from WCF 1.6-7, 9)
- 8/24 – Basic Tools (Study Bible, Bible dictionary, reading plan, reading in chunks)
- 8/31 – What does the Bible address? Types of literature and subjects
- 9/7 – The matter of genre
- 9/14 – The art of narrative
- 9/21 – The art of poetry
- 9/28 – Figures of speech
- 10/12 – Law
- 10/19 – Wisdom
- 10/26 – Prophecy
- 11/2 – Gospels
- 11/9 – Epistles
- 11/16 – Revelation
- 11/30 – Applying what we learned
- 12/7 – Applying what we learned
- 12/14 – ROC On Christmas Party
