A Church Merger Completed

ROC has supported Julian and Christiana Russell in Nassau, Bahamas, for many years now. Last year the leadership of their church, Covenant Life Presbyterian, announced the intention to combine ministries with another church with a 200+ year history in the city, Saint Andrew’s Kirk. The merger of congregations enables both to be stronger for the future.

On Easter Sunday of this year, the combination of churches was completed with a joint worship service that celebrated the notion that “We are better together.” Bryn MacPhail, the senior pastor of the Kirk (Scots for “church”), will retain overall leadership responsibilities, and Julian Russell will continue serving as pulpit supply, as an elder over the flock of the merged Kirk, and as mentor to the leadership team and younger ministers in training. Christiana will continue working with the children and parents in the Yellow Elder Gardens neighborhood.
