A Case of the Mondays?
In our denomination (and we suspect the ratio is the same elsewhere), only 1.3% of the people serve as pastors. The other 98.7% have a different vocation (or did in the past, if retired). But so often it is easy for Christians to fall into the trap of thinking that the only work that matters spiritually is direct ministry. Working as a teacher, accountant, engineer, plumber, landscaper, homemaker, retail worker, doctor, lawyer–yeah, those are necessary but aren’t as spiritual.
As the apostle Paul would say, “By no means!”
There are 168 hours in a week. You might spend 2-3 of those in direct “spiritual” stuff (i.e. church events), and 40-50 of those (or more) punching the clock somewhere else. Do those hours matter? How do we sanctify them unto the Lord?
Join Pastor Lanier (and others) in April-May for a study on the intersection of the Christian faith and the various areas of “work” where you might be engaged. Our goal is to help you see your vocation–whatever it is–as working for Jesus.
This class will meet in the worship center from 10:15-10:45am.
