Jesus is Our Perfect King!

This month in children’s ministry we will be looking at the life of King David and His relationship with God.

In some of the stories we will see King David living out Godly character and being the kind of king God’s people needed. But we will also see that he failed and sinned, with terrible consequences.

All of it shows us that we need a greater king than David, one with even more of the kindness and grace we see in David, but without the sin. Happily, we will also hear God’s promise to David to provide this king in the future from David’s line — our perfect king, Jesus!

For Teachers

Our church family is so blessed to have such a wonderful ministry team teaching and caring for our young ones. Do you know someone who would make a good addition to the team?

We want to have a large enough team that nobody gets burned out with their pace of service and it’s always fun to serve together with friends. Think through your circles and consider if you know someone who may be gifted to serve in this area. Then share with them why the ministry is meaningful to you and invite them to talk with Joel or Jenn about joining the team!

Memory verse for Unit 11: This unit’s verse is Psalm 145:13: “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your rule lasts for all generations.” You can always find a printout of the current verse in the curriculum folder.

Teaching tip for November: Connection matters! Don’t forget that on Sunday mornings you are not just communicating information to the kids, you are building relationships and showing them that they are part of a church family where they are known, valued and loved. We certainly hope that they will remember many of the verses, stories and gospel principles we teach them on Sundays, but we know some of them will fade from memory. But what I guarantee will stick, if we do it right, is that sense of belonging to Christ’s family. So try not to be so caught up in your head about the lesson that you forget to look them in the eye and show the reason you’re serving — because you know how valuable they are to the Lord!

For Parents

We hope that you are feeling supported, encouraged and equipped for the work of raising your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord! Are there specific ways your family has been blessed by the ministry this year? We’d love to hear about them! Are there areas you could use more support or resources as a family? We’d love to hear about that too!

Feedback is the building block of growth for any endeavor, so please feel free to reach out to Joel or Jenn at any time with comments, questions and needs so the ministry can thrive to its full potential.

Family worship tip for November: The holiday season is upon us, which can either be a stressful whirlwind where it seems like there’s barely time between throwing out your pumpkins and putting up your tree, or it can be a really meaningful time of reflecting and connecting to what matters. Usually it’s somewhere in between. Take some intentional time this year to be thoughtful ahead of time about how you can make sure this whole upcoming season is full of more meaning than marketing. Family Life just published a free eBook on this very topic. Check out their “Holiday Survival Guide.”
