Transition Plan for our Livestream

ROC’s livestream service has been a blessing to us all during the last 18 months. However, offering a virtualized service was a decision of necessity, not a long-term strategic priority for our church. In recent months, average viewership of the livestream has trended down as in-person attendance has increased. At our peak we had over 150 people livestreaming during the 11am service time; at present that number is sometimes less than 20.

The elders and deacons have decided that now is the time to make a small transition with our livestream offering. We will be making two changes in the intermediate term.

  1. We will switch to a wider-angle view that simply shows the service. Song lyrics will no longer be displayed onscreen. Rather, they will be provided (as always) via a link available on YouTube (in the description). This change will greatly simplify the process for our slides team.
  2. We will make the livestream link “unlisted” and provide the link directly to members of the congregation who are physically unable to attend the service on a regular basis (shut-ins, high COVID-risk, etc.). The sermon will still be recorded and posted on our website after the service for those who occasionally miss (as has been our practice for the past decade).

These changes will go in effect the first Sunday of September. Our pastors will reach out directly to congregants who we are aware have limitations that prevent ordinary attendance. If, however, you would like to request access to the link, feel free to contact David or Greg.
